Autumns 'Pen'dency (rewrite)
Scattered leaves lying under naked twisted branches
Like bony fingers grasping at the skies inner reaches
mark the motion of lifes' flowing stream
as the songbirds are no more seen
the low setting sun casts long shadows
the Northern air swirls and coldly blows
in the barren fields and crumbling corn stalks
'Tis time to take long walks
enjoy the color of dying leaves
drink from the bounty that nature weaves
wander in the shadows and chilly mist
wear the pleasant wrap of Gods' gifts
linger by the tall oaks and fragrant pines
visit forest trails and breathe fresh air so fine
be a witness to glorious beauty
a special gift to you and me
