Upended
'Tis isolation forced upon the Nation
that has not seen a conclusion
with viral scenes apocalypse filled
that now knocks at my windowsill
Where flashy cars once rolled
now there are empty roads
our highways turn to dust
erasing the joy of automotive lust
Cool shade that appeared at high noon
now stays as gray fills my room
pleasures once taken for granted
now live as memories to be feasted
I'm sequestered in my home harbor
where I can't see the roaming monster
However, from my flat screen porthole
I realize the necessity of individual roles
Normalcy was upended quickly
It disintegrated and retreated swiftly
It left society caring for one another
during the isolation we all suffer
As I spend my days in gloom
filled with anxious dark moods
I crave fresh air and sunny morns
to chase away this COVID-19 scorn
