Craving for Spring
The promise of Spring drips
from neurons that light my mind
color green craves to be sipped
by the eyes, inciting a wide smile
Icicles spawned during recent past
now dissolve in a slow-motion death
to become a memory in sunlight cast
while the sun naturally journeys west
Still, the snow remains frozen fresh
my yard blanketed in vivid white
that sparkles like jewels recently left
to appease momentarily Winters' bite
Then, I dream of something else
of drifting clouds in warmer skies
that spar with sunshine that melts
Winters' grip and reveals Spring delight
A silent passage of Winters' end
a much-welcomed change of season
not because Winter isn't my friend
but because I love Spring beyond reason
