The Red Chair
When sitting by the river clear
my physical substance supported by a red chair
I contemplate notions far and near
Some close, like the swallows that fill the air
their deeply forked tails blue-black
cinnamon undercarriages that flash
during their chaotic flight, it taxes my awareness
of their acrobatics above the waters' sparkling zest
Some far away, like Pluto and Charon dancing in space
as New Horizons seeks their invisible trace
After ten years of travel, approaching their world
New Horizons flies as humanity's bird
after a voyage of three billion miles
knocking on Pluto's door with camera eyes
posing the question, loud and clear
IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE...
From my chair, I witness the Hirondo Rustica exhibition
A gift from nature of exciting aerial action
that comforts my spirit just fine
like a refreshing summer wine
and my imagination awaits the long sought rendezvous
with Pluto and Charon, far away, we always knew
but now, to be a confirmed reality
for all the eyes of humanity
