GRAVEDIGGER
With eyes cast down at the opening
he perceives his masterpiece of shoveling
stained stones damp with earth
jut out from the neat pile of dirt
Beneath the starless sky tonight
the open earth will crave the morning light
and the evening winds coursing the landscape
will scatter leaves into a grave void of escape
Now, the chilled ground in darkness still
awaits morning to be filled
Tomorrow, the deceased will arrive
accompanied by flowers and somber skies
Within the gleaming casket free from care
the departed in stillness will not hear
the praise from mourners who came
acknowledging KUYUCU's claim to fame
