Honoring Duty
Passion instilled in many might be
the duty of poets throughout history
Their visions that life is unfair
is that song we love to hear
Passion touches the mind
remains there during the flight of time
Of all virtues under the sun
duty to country resolutely done
sometimes ends in a sealed casket
hidden from tears that death begets
Life lost in duty to a foreign place
far from families pleasant face
where ideals are crafted by insanity
is never grasped by the honoree
Honoring duty calls out to our spirit
to never question the benefits of its merit
when our youth, some in bleak despair
choose duty over personal care
Their duty to spread the sunlight of peace
is where freedom and duty meet
and sometimes ends in the silence of death
buried in honors' deepest depth
There for the Nation to praise
and remember their sacrifice for all our days
