Bike Angel (rewrite)

Bike Angel (rewrite)

'Tis a glorious morning in Spring
life resounds all around
as I journey to my calling
a curious desire is found
to catch a glimpse of him momentarily
to renew my credence of his manifestation
confirm that coincidence is not in play
as I travel the road to my destination
miles from the approaching cemetery gates
silently wondering if he'll be there
maybe today he'll be late
further down the road he'll appear
'Tis been that way now
for twenty years maybe more
I try to understand how
he's not aged one hour for sure
someday, I'll stop at the cemetery gates
quietly wait for him to appear
as he pedals to his daily fate
surely I'll confirm his presence there
but fear prevents me for now
stops me from verifying what I'm seeing
knowing that one day somehow
the reality of that being
must be addressed
only fickle time will surely tell
as I journey towards the test
tendered by the bike Angel

Habits and Rituals

Habits and Rituals

Nothing exists with aimless desire
our passions and beings craving every hour
as natures' gift for every life
code written hidden from sight
silently touches and shapes the path taken
revealing the course daily striven
master program clearly dictates
actions that consume moments shaped
early morning habits and evening rites
haunt us with certain delight
and shape natural beauty into reality
as stately cleanliness our servant be
watch and patiently observe natures' way
as beasts and fowl spend their days
endlessly preening as water sprays about
cleaning themselves with furry snouts
the lioness gives her cubs a bath
licking their faces on savanna flats
every life is habit filled
from newborns in crib
to puberty, marriage, conception and death
rituals are woven into natural and societal depths

Valhalla

Valhalla

'Tis when vibrant and shade-drenched
visions of times whence
Vikings plunderers travelled on ocean waves
and slumbered in vales during nights stayed
that fields edged with birch and junipers
witnessed Valkyries carry dead warriors
assisting Oden to that place
where the fallen lie in buried haste
and in Valhalla their spirits rest
needing not the spoils of conquest
silk, silver, gold and ivory stores
now needed nevermore
as treasure litters moist earth
in Baltic forests and leaf strewn dirt
amber and furs scattered by lonely streams
memories of singing swords in battle scenes
as Viking presence in ancient places
appear in mist-shrouded vessels and bearded faces
with fearsome shouts as day darkened
steeped in screams as Valhalla beckoned
with death wrapped in eternal night
within lonely graves hidden from sight

Summer Nights

Summer Nights

'Tis when the warm sunlight
lasts long into summer nights
and all the murmurs of busy days
draw sounds to ear from far away
that soft scents come in perfume showers
pleasing the senses during passing hours
colorful petunias flash smiles anew
drenched in summer eves glistening dew
swallows skim placid waters causing some spray
during the approaching end of day
children play in their world of green
that bring memories of times once seen
the magic of summer nights
'Tis a welcomed and lovely sight
with beauty in length of day
sun setting over lifes' valley
recalls memories tender and strong
that refresh life while cherished long
and as darkness gains upon the sky silently
enjoy summer nights on your short stay

Friendship and Flowers

Friendship and Flowers

When summer is past
and leaves turn golden at last
sad are the times for some
as forests bare and chilled sun
mark the motion of time flown
gone with the wind to places unknown
fragile child of the earth that once stood
in the now frosted woods
their sparkling smiles drowned by cold rain
their fragrance washed away without pain
withering hastily as memories of May
become distant past in somber day
the vision musters recollections
vivid scenes of youthful actions
where the fair blosson of love
grew and faded in bright skies above
with memories of stars in the midnight hours
mingled with natures charming flowers
seems a pity that friends and lovers
should perish like autumn flowers
