Crystal Daggers (rewrite)

Crystal Daggers (rewrite)
Sparkling bluish crystal daggers
Shedding tear-like pearly droplets
against an out of focus background
of russet maple tree buds
as the solar comfort of March thaws the chill
and steals away winter slumber
born are natures' glass-like sculptures
given life, growing as if by magic
their fridgid reality maintain their form
as their short-lived beauty is displayed
shaped by earths relentless pull
sculpted into their familiar form
soon, released from their lofty perch
they fall and crash to the slush covered ground
beautiful, even in their gravity dictated deaths
natures crystal gifts are recycled
to be used again and again in the next awesome display

ICEDREAM

ICEDREAM
I had a dream, a strange wild dream
Looking thru much younger eyes
even now, T'is crystal clear, it seems
It lingers sharply as I wonder why
In the dark rink, a chilled fresh scent
shadows fleeting about near me moved swiftly or stood
Am I dreaming or just awakened from recent slumber spent
There's hazy glass above the dashers of wood
Hidden voices spring from the shadowy coolness
Dark figures are seen on the frozen ice sheet
Sounding like so many children at play, always their quest
Noise of crunching ice from skate worn feet
T'is summer outside, I know it well
shafts of sunlight spear the mirror surface, all white
exposing red and blue markings where brightness fell
T'is a most magical moment, a somewhat surreal sight
Then, ceiling lights flicker and ignite
The forbidding darkness is quickly chased away
Revealing a flawless surface, untouched, glass-like
as colorful skaters enjoy hockey this day

Daytona Buddha

DAYTONA BUDDHA
T'was on a humid day in Saigon city
Tu Do street sidewalk strolling
the rush of ' Jack ' going thru me
reality somewhat distorted, annoying
Brightly painted Dragons of gold
advertised flashy offerings inside that store
that drew me into the shady semi-cold
ceiling fans moving so slowly, never more
Within an ancient case of glass
at first seeing the silent form
Buddha of jade, nothing but class
eighteen carots gold, those days the norm
wrapped the flawless jade stone
like a shiny golden blanket
A thick chain of gold, held the emerald clone
bought on the spot without regret
We remained incountry together
lucky charm for all to see
lived thru hell and disaster
Finally, leaving that sad City
Daytona bound, surf, sand and rocking tunes
Riding ocean waves with style and grace
we parted ways one day in June
gone in a foamy wipeout without a trace
