I know who I am
I say to no one
" I know who I am "
as my resolve slowly weakens
while my tomorrow relentlessly happens
My life flows like a river
that must surely empty into something bigger
dictated by the Universal clockwork
that rules the orbit of our earth
I stare profoundly into my life's mirror
and see myself and no other
the optically inverted reflection
is processed instantly into the proper direction
Left is right in glass corrected
and right is left while reflected
I say to no one
" I know who I am "
but the mirror is eternally wise
and my reflection holds a surprise
perfectly released in spite of small distortions
that shade the substance of my quiet intentions
A reality not self-evident
but nevertheless needing comment
During childhood knowing not who to be
I sought the light of destiny
In that mirror of distorted identity
and found subtleties present in youthful me
that shaped the person to be
and today that individual is me
