Autumn Rain
Cold rain droplets slide down my window pane
They leave crystal streaks that move in motion slow
Distorted vision spoils my view as daylight wanes
Glass reflected flames cast a fireplace glow
As the forest is still and season painted
Wild forest companions have found shelter
in matted branches deep brown tainted
as deep rooted trees absorb the cold autumn shower
A chilled mist rises from the fields
and slowly pours over my garden bower
stealing nature's life force with ease
killing the frosted grapes unpicked at this hour
My careless breath on window glass
clouds a scenery once quite clear
Of times joyful and green now elapsed
Luckily, I harvested from the garden my share
I enjoyed the sweet strawberry
its vibrant red caressing my lips wet
during summers drenched in syrup rains merry
as my youthful spirit absorbed glowing sunsets
Now, melancholy stirs in the pale light
during Falls afternoon and memories past
I notice the gliding leaf in its death flight
and wait for Autumn rain to pass
